The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) was founded on July 26, 1922, in Atlanta, Georgia, during a time of significant anti-immigrant sentiment and discrimination against Greek Americans in the United States. Its primary mission was to protect Greeks and other immigrants from prejudice, to promote their assimilation into American society, and to advocate for their civil rights.
